How does the Ozmist system work?
Ozmist misting systems use "flash evaporation" to provide excellant cooling, humidification or dust suppression for domestic, commercial and industrial applications. Equipment is custom designed to suit each individual application.
The Ozmist system comprises of a high pressure pump module, distribution tubing and either stainless steel misting lines or rings fitted to the front of industrial fans.
Normal mains pressure water is pressurized to 1000 PSI then forced through specially designed nozzles. The nozzles break the water up into millions of 10 micron droplets. The droplets "flash Evaporate" and absorb the heat in the air leaving no wetting of surfaces or rusting of equipment. -
What are the best conditions for misting?
The effectiveness of the cooling process improves as the temperature rises (29ºC to 46ºC is ideal) and the humidity level drops (above 90% humidity - performance is marginal; 40% to 90% humidity - performance is good; below 40% humidity - performance is excellent). The expected temperature drop will vary depending on the climate conditions, but cooling of up to 12ºC is achievable under ideal circumstances.
-
How much water does the Ozmist System use?
Water usage depends on the system installed. Our standard.002 misting nozzle uses a total of .056 litres per minute or 3.36 litres of water per hour. When using a 6 nozzle fan misting ring usage is just over 20 litres per hour.
-
I live in a humid climate. Will the system work for me?
Yes. The mist cooling concept will work any time you are able to achieve evaporation. The more complete the evaporation, the more effective the system will work. For areas with humidity above 90%, temperature reductions of up to 6ºC are achievable; for humidity levels between 40% and 90% humidity, temperature reductions of up to 11ºC are achievable; for humidity levels below 40%, temperature reductions of 12ºC are achievable.

Will the Ozmist system wet floors and surfaces?
A properly designed and installed system will not cause any wetting of floors or surfaces when operated correctly. When using misting fans the amount of water being introduced into the atmospher is usually minimal compared to the total volume. Open access doors will add sufficient ventilation to the area.
Static misting lines need to be installed around 3m above the floor. When installed inside a factory or workshop adequate ventillation must be available otherwise humidity levels may rise due to the amount of nozzles installed.
-
Is there any maintenance required?
The only maintenance required for a properly designed fog system is a periodic cleaning of the nozzles and an annual 'check-up' for the pump. This check-up should include changing of the oil and the filter elements. Oil changes are required after each 500 hours of use on the Industrial Pump Modules and 250 hours on the Commercial range of pumps. Filter changes are dependant on local water conditions, but at a minimum once each summer. If the installation is subject to freezing and is not in use, the system should be completely drained of water, including the empting of the filter canisters.

I already have fans in my work place. Can I fit the Ozmist Misting Ring to them?
Yes, in most cases you can fit the Ozmist ring to existing fans. The location of the fans may need to be altered slightly to give the best effects . A base system would consist of an Industrial pump module and misting rings to fit to the fans. Tubing and compression fittings would also be supplied.
-
Do I need a pump for every fan misting ring that I install?
No, the Ozmist System can be engineered to serve any number of fans throughout the workplace using a single, centrally located pump module.
-
Where can I purchase a system from?
Ozmist has a constantly expanding group of specialist dealers around Australia that will make sure that you get the best system
for your requirements. Ozmist dealers will also be able to organise expert installation of the system. -
Can I purchase the system as a kit and install it myself?
In most cases you can install the system yourself. All you need is a few hand tools and a basic mechanical knowledge.Ozmist provides a detailed installation, operation and maintenance manual that will guide you through the installation.
