Alfresco Cooling
Whether called Mist Lines, Fixed Systems, or Static Misting, this approach provides a tailor-made delivery for ultra-fine water droplets. The system consists of individual misting nozzles fitted at specific intervals, typically 750mm to 1m, along rigid or semi-flexible tubing. Highly adaptable, these lines can incorporate junctions, tees, and branches to follow any building layout, from beer gardens and shopping precincts to factory roof trusses.
For high-profile alfresco cooling at venues like Melbourne’s Strato Bar or Brisbane’s Sunsets Rooftop, stainless steel tubing is used for its neat, stylish appearance and longevity. Conversely, many outdoor areas utilize 3/8” nylon line with “push-lock” fittings for quick, easy installation.
Regardless of the tubing, the system is powered by an OZmist High-Pressure Pump Module at 1000psi to ensure droplets are atomized without causing wetness. These cost-effective systems can operate exclusively or in conjunction with fans. In alfresco settings, lines are generally installed 3m–4m above the ground, allowing a curtain of cool air to reach outside diners. In addition to providing significant heat relief, the misting naturally deters flies, making it a practical solution for any heat-challenged space.
Features
- Effective mist formula, a system running at 1000psi or 70bar creates a fine mist from each nozzle without drips or wet areas.
- OZmist’s tiny nozzle creates millions of tiny 5-10 micron droplets, low flow rate for such a high surface area & therefore very effective for cooling.
- Simple to install, the procedure is the same whether it is a 15m kit for a cafe, or a 200m shopping centre precinct.
- With a large number of fittings available for either Push lock and Quick Fit we can design a system for almost any location.
Specifications
- OZmist’s nozzles creates millions of tiny 5-10 micron droplets that atomise on release, evaporating and cooling, without condensation or drips.
- Flow rates per nozzle are 0.2mm (56ml/minute) or 0.15mm (36ml/minute)
- Pumps come in a variety of sizes and the number correlates to the maximum number of standard 0.2mm nozzles they can run. Small and medium alfresco systems will often use our CPM25 (1.4ltr) and CPM55 (3ltr) pumps. OZmist’s OZ range of pumps go from the OZ85 (5ltr) and continue up to the OZ320 or more.
- Nylon tubing comes in rolls and easily cut with appropriate hose cutters.
- Stainless steel is ⅜” diameter with lengths pre cut at our factory. Sections have a notch grooved into each end, for a small 3mm grub screw to locate during installation.
Benefits
- Only requires 1 power and water connection at the pump, the rest of the system is done with tubing.
- Discreet, effective and controlled. Mist lines are efficient and provide a gentle delivery of mist that is tailored to suit, delivering cooling up to less 10 degrees to where it’s most needed.
- Energy Efficient: extremely efficient with low water usage due to the 1000psi pressure pumps and tiny nozzle size. Continual running is not needed in venues. Cycle timers are often added to automate on/off intervals.
- Drip Free, no wetting of objects, floors or materials when running a high pressure pump.
- Quiet Operation, pumps can be located close by with tubing to connect the system, with ease of control and operation for the venue.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to use a High-Pressure Pump with your Static Systems?
Yes, if no high-Pressure Pump is used regular mains pressure will not have sufficient force to open the orifice on our Nozzles, will not be effective & just drip water and
wet the surrounding area.
Can I install the delivery line, tubing to any surface?
We would recommend that our Fixed lines be installed on solid surface (timber, steel or masonry) with the saddles ‘P’ clips supplied. It can also be cable tied to existing cabling or overhead stainless catenary wire that can be installed, this is neat, quick and a great option for spanning open areas that would otherwise be hard to connect. Avoid fixing mist lines to any thin or hollow material such as guttering or colourbond sheeting, as any noise vibration will amplify.
What are the best ways to control and automate the pump operation?
OZmist has a number of options for automation including thermostats, cycle timers, weather stations (wind direction), humidistats, motion sensors etc that control when pumps activate.
Cycle timers provide great control for most venue’s with on/off dials to control intervals. ie mist 1 minute “On”, 4 minutes “Off”.
